Our Approach to WordPress Accessibility

Ever wondered why some WordPress sites feel welcoming to everyone while others leave certain visitors frustrated? We make WordPress sites more inclusive by combining smart technology with real human expertise to tackle accessibility barriers head-on. Our approach goes beyond just checking WCAG compliance boxes—it actually makes your site easier for everyone to use, helping you connect with your whole audience in meaningful ways.

We Know the Regulations

Our WordPress Accessibility Services are tailored for WordPress websites aiming to meet ADA, Section 504, or HHS regulatory guidelines before the upcoming deadlines, but our commitment to inclusive websites goes beyond meeting legal requirements. We believe every website should be welcoming and functional for everyone—whether or not regulations apply. We begin with thorough audits that combine automated scans with hands-on reviews. Then we get to work on remediation.

To the left is a blue computer browser window graphic. There are speech bubbles with messages: "We've added ALT tags for you" (with a pink envelope icon), "Your Site is now AA compliant!" (with a small profile picture), and on the right side is a WCAG compliance indicator showing "AA" with a green checkmark and circular progress icon. The overall theme appears to be about web accessibility and achieving WCAG AA compliance standards.

We’re With You Along the Way

Throughout the process, your Account Manager, Developers, and SEO Specialists will work in tandem to make your website accessible in the most efficient way possible. You’ll receive regular reports (view a sample report here) on what’s been fixed and what’s next on our agenda. Because accessibility standards evolve, we provide ongoing guidance so you don’t have to worry about complex rule changes.

Our goal is simple: create an online experience that works for everyone, not just when it’s required by law. It’s the right thing to do for your users, your brand, and the communities you serve.

End-to-End Accessibility

Accessibility can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to tackle it alone. Our development team handles the fixes for you, ensuring an experience that won’t sacrifice design or functionality. We’ll coordinate everything and let you know exactly what’s happening behind the scenes.

Unlike many agencies that only scan or provide a checklist of what’s wrong, SiteCare goes further by managing the entire process from start to finish—scanning, reviewing, and remediating your site. This truly comprehensive approach sets us apart and keeps your website aligned with the latest accessibility standards.

A purple button with a lightning bolt icon labeled "Efficient Changes"
A light blue button with code brackets (<>) labeled "Knowledgeable Developers"
A pink button with an accessibility icon (stylized person) labeled "One-Stop Accessibility"

Below these buttons is a simplified representation of a theme editor interface. It shows "Theme Editor" text on the left, a blue "Publish" button on the right, and a mockup of an editing area with placeholder gray lines representing content. The left side has a dark navy sidebar with gray navigation elements. The overall design appears to be showcasing features of a website builder or content management system with accessibility features.

Accessibility for Everyone

Web accessibility is about real people-your customers-who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, and other assistive technologies every day. Our human-led approach ensures that behind every automated scan there’s a real person interpreting results, prioritizing fixes, and making sure the solutions truly work.

We don’t rely on automated tools alone. Our team also performs manual testing to properly emulate how users with assistive technologies interact with your site. By actively navigating your site with screen readers, keyboard-only input, and other adaptive methods, we identify and resolve accessibility challenges that automated scans can miss-ensuring a truly inclusive experience for all visitors.

WordPress Accessibility Frequently Asked Questions

Accessibility is essential because it enables users with disabilities to have equal access to your content and services, and it’s also a legal obligation. Websites in the United States may be covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)—particularly under Title II for state/local government entities and Title III for public accommodations—and many organizations receiving federal funds must follow Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. These laws require that individuals with disabilities not be excluded from, or denied access to, digital resources. By prioritizing accessibility, you’re both helping your audience and meeting recognized legal standards that help you avoid fines, lawsuits, and reputational risks.

While plugins can address some common problems, no single tool can guarantee full compliance. A well-rounded approach combines automated and manual checks, specialized code adjustments, and ongoing monitoring.

Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time fix.

Your website is never static. Every time you add new content, update a plugin, or introduce a new feature, you risk creating a new accessibility problem.

A one-time audit only fixes the issues present today. Regular scans and manual reviews are necessary to ensure your site remains compliant as it continues to grow and change.

Our accessibility services are offered exclusively to Diamond clients. If you’re interested in upgrading or learning more about this plan, our team would be happy to guide you through your options. Learn more about WordPress Accessibility and our Diamond Plan.

Your budget will vary depending on your site’s size, complexity, and the severity of the accessibility issues we find.

For ongoing remediation work, we recommend a budget of at least 10 Flex Pack hours per month.

Our Diamond Plan is built for this. It includes ongoing accessibility monitoring as a standard feature. The 10 Flex Pack hours that come with the Diamond plan can then be used to cover the remediation work needed to fix any issues the monitoring uncovers.

If you need hours beyond those included in your plan, Gold plan clients receive a 10% discount on additional Flex Packs, and Diamond plan clients receive a 15% discount.

The timeline depends on your site’s size, complexity, and the number of issues identified. Some sites see major improvements in a few weeks, while larger or more complex sites may need a longer, phased approach.

We prioritize based on severity and impact.

We first fix the most critical issues, focusing on anything that blocks users (like keyboard navigation failures) or poses a significant legal compliance risk.

Once the high-impact items are handled, our team works through the remaining issues systematically.

Our WordPress experts tackle everything from custom themes to intricate plugins. We adapt to your unique setup, making accessibility adjustments that fit smoothly with your site’s design and functionality.

In most cases, improving accessibility requires minimal changes to your site’s design. If visual adjustments (like color contrast) are needed, we’ll uphold your brand identity while meeting accessibility standards.

Yes. We manually test your site using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and other assistive tools to catch issues automated scans may miss, supporting real-world usability.

Accessibility enhancements often improve site performance. In cases where modifications might affect load times, we’ll optimize the code and settings to support a fast user experience.

Yes. If your team is comfortable making certain updates, like adding alt text or adjusting content, you can absolutely handle those internally.

We will then review that work to confirm it meets all accessibility requirements.

Yes. The two are closely related.

Many of the things we do for accessibility also improve your technical SEO. Good accessibility means using proper heading structures, adding alt text to images, and using clean, semantic HTML.

Search engines rely on this same clear structure to understand your content. Similarly, implementing schema markup for accessibility (like for navigation) also helps search engines categorize your content, which can boost your visibility.

We’ll identify accessibility issues within embedded elements and suggest changes or alternative solutions. If a third-party service needs to be involved, we’ll collaborate with them to achieve best practices on your site.

Here is how our Accessibility Guarantee works.

To be eligible, you must meet three conditions:

  1. You must be a SiteCare Diamond client and have been on the plan for at least 60 days before receiving any legal notice.
  2. You must notify us of any fine or legal claim within 15 business days.
  3. You must have followed our team’s accessibility recommendations.

We offer this guarantee to show that we stand by our work. For the complete details, please see our Terms & Conditions.

Unlike traditional redesigns, Website Rebuild improves and updates your existing site instead of creating something totally new. We keep your main content and structure while removing unnecessary elements like bulky page builders and old plugins. This approach takes less time, causes fewer disruptions, and costs less.
